  Job Description

Caregivers provide in-home, non-medical services for people of all ages.  Caregivers are dedicated to helping our clients lead dignified, independent lifestyles in the comfort and safety of their own homes.  Caregivers provide compassionate care for people of all ages through professional, ethical and quality service. All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a background check, drug screen, and pre-employment physical to assess your ability to meet the essential functions of the Caregiver position.

• Companionship

• Accompany to doctor, restaurants, theater, movies, etc.

• Record personal memories

• Play games/cards

• Assist with hobbies and crafts

• Read books, newspapers, magazines or spiritual material

• Assist with mail and making appointments

• Connect with family and friends via social media, email, Skype, etc.

• Discuss current events or share memories

• Visit friends, relatives or neighbors

• Assist with pet care

• Housekeeping

     –  Provide light housekeeping

     –  Organize and clean closets

     –  Pack and unpack

     –  Wash dishes

     –  Dust, vacuum and take out garbage

     –  Provide laundry and ironing assistance

     –  Care for plants

     –  Change linens and make beds

     –  Decorate for the holidays

• Shopping and Errands

     – Assist with grocery list, clipping coupons and grocery shopping

     –  Rent movies

     –  Pick up prescriptions

     –  Shop for gifts and miscellaneous items

• Transportation

     –  Doctor, dentist and other appointments

     –  Religious services, shopping and local destinations

• Personal Care

     –  Assist with bathing and personal hygiene

     –  Assist with clothing selection

     –  Assist with walking to ensure safety

     –  Transfer using slide board and Hoyer lifts (as needed)

     –  Offer medication reminders

     –  Assist with range of motion exercises

     –  Shampoo and style hair

• Meal Preparation

     –  Prepare meals, assist with eating and clean up after meals

     –  Plan and prepare meals in advance

     –  Assist with special diets

     –  Monitor expiration date on foods

• Respite Care

     –  Provide relief for primary caregivers while they take a well-deserved break, run errands or attend activities away from home

• Alzheimer’s & Dementia Care

     –  Provide specially trained caregiving to assist loved ones and families

     –  Understand the behaviors and struggles, as well as the special care that is needed

• Hospice Care

     –  Provide supportive care in the final stages of terminal illness

     –  Focus on comfort and quality of life

 

 Basic Minimum Qualifications

• Must possess a valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance

• Must possess your own reliable vehicle to transport clients

• Must have regular access to the internet and email

• Must be 19+ years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

• English language proficiency preferred

• Personal cell phone preferred

 

• Treat clients and their property with dignity, kindness, and respect

• Communicate with clients and staff in a friendly and congenial manner

• Follow verbal and written instructions, as well as document services provided

• Function independently in a home setting with minimal supervision

• Comply with client privacy, confidentiality, and HIPPA Standards

• Follow Mandated Reporter of Abuse and Neglect Laws


 

• Forward bend, trunk rotation, kneeling/crouching to reach objects on the floor, underneath a bed, wheelchair legs

• Client transfer, client repositioning, bed mobility, vacuuming, walking

• Lifting and moving various equipment, client personal items. Able to lift 35 lbs.

• Level 3, Elite Certified Caregivers: Hoyer lift maneuvering, Hoyer lift management. Able to push/pull 100 lbs.
